There are two Rotem feed weighers the RFS-6 (illustrated above left) which features an open topped container with a single load cell, which is suspended above a chain feeder or other type of conveyor hopper, directly below the outlet of one or more augers that bring feed from the silo's. The controller switches on the auger, fills the container with pre-determined batch of feed, for example, 20 kilograms stops the auger, releases the feed into the hopper below, and then repeats the cycle until the total amount of feed programmed has been delievered. The final batch of feed is automatically adjusted to the exact amount to achieve otimum accuracy. The RFS-6 has a capacity of up to about four tonnes per hour and can blend rations from two different feedstuffs.
The RSW-2 (illustrated above right) silo weigher uses one larger capacity load cell under each leg of a bulk feed hopper, and weighs the whole thing. The controller compensates for the weight of the silo, and is capable of accurately dispensing feed into eight or more different places, via automatic valves fitted to the auger(s). Both controllers can activate feeders, lights and alarms, and both can also monitor and store water consumption and live bird weight information, by means of a water meter and a bird scale. Each controller can calculate feed conversion, record mortality figures, and be connected to a local or a remote P.C. using a Rotem communication program for Windows.
